Dr. Karim Wanga is a pharmacist by training and holds a Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacoepidemiology & Pharmacovigilance from the University of Nairobi. He is also a qualified Fellow in Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
Currently serving as a Pharmaceutical Expert at the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr. Karim plays an important role in advancing regional pharmaceutical regulatory cooperation in the Horn of Africa.
His current work includes supporting the IGAD Medicines Regulatory Harmonization (IGAD-MRH) Programme and the Health Emergency Preparedness, Response and Resilience (HEPRR) Programme, particularly in expanding access to quality health products and strengthening local vaccine and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
With more than 10 years of experience at the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), he has worked across key regulatory areas, including regulatory inspections, pharmacovigilance, post-marketing surveillance, and clinical trials.
